  • Pensioners are restricted within their supplementary income limits and must always inform their pension insurer.
  • Permanent employees may not exceed the maximum weekly working hours of 48 hours per week (maximum eight hours per day on a maximum of six days per week) stipulated in the Labor Act. In addition, the second job must be settled via tax class 6. Here, the deductions are the highest of all tax classes because no allowances are taken into account. This means that you have to pay tax on every euro you earn.

Requirements for temporary staff

No specialist training is required for a temporary job. As no special qualifications are required, soft skills such as motivation, resilience, punctuality, diligence, friendliness and communication skills play a major role in these jobs.

Reasons for hiring temporary staff

  • Flexibility: Temporary staff offer the opportunity to deploy workers flexibly as required. Temporary staff can cover seasonal fluctuations or peak times when additional workers are needed.
  • Cost savings: Temporary staff are often paid on an hourly basis. Compared to permanent employees, they can be a more cost-effective option, especially when it comes to short-term or temporary projects.
  • Supporting activities: Temporary staff are often used for support tasks, such as restocking shelves, packing products, operating the cash register, trade fair activities, event or customer service. This allows permanent employees to concentrate on more complex or strategic tasks.
  • Cover staff absences: If employees are absent due to illness, vacation or other reasons, temporary staff can step in to maintain the workflow and avoid bottlenecks.
  • Special skills or expertise: In some cases, temporary staff with specific knowledge or skills are hired to carry out certain tasks or projects. This may be the case, for example, in the areas of graphic design, translation, event management or event technology.
