Recruitment
Recruitment is a sub-area of personnel planning. The aim is to fill vacancies. A distinction can be made between internal and external recruitment.
In addition, companies are increasingly using global terms, which is why recruitment is now also increasingly referred to as recruiting.
The task of recruitment
The main task of recruitment is to determine personnel requirements and then cover them.
The following questions play an important role here:
- What qualifications do employees need to have?
- How many team members are needed?
- Which positions need to be filled?
- When and where do I need employees?
Only once you have answered these questions about requirements do you move on to recruitment: searching, selecting and hiring.
The aim of recruitment
The aim is to find the best talent with the right qualifications and skills and attract them to your company. For this reason, the recruitment process looks at whether candidates and companies are a good match.
Internal vs. external
There are positive aspects to both internal and external recruitment.
The following options are available internally:
- Internal job advertisement
- Transfer
- Recommendation by the supervisor
- Promotion
- Overtime
- Project postponement
Externally there are the following 2 options:
- Passive
- active
Passive recruitment refers to the following: primarily incoming unsolicited applications are evaluated. The existing applicant database is also searched for suitable candidates.
The active recruitment of new employees refers to the publication of job advertisements on suitable channels.
For example, the following channels are available:
- Online job exchanges
- Career page of the company
- Social media channels
- Job fairs
- Headhunting
