A supervisor appraisal has these objectives
A supervisor appraisal has the following objectives:
- Improved assessment of leadership behavior & its effect on employees
- Need for change in management behavior becomes clear
- Employees are involved
- Development measures are to be derived
Contents of the assessment
There are several criteria that are to be queried in such an assessment. These include the following, for example:
- Openness & appreciation
- Justice
- Reliability
- Motivational ability
- Ability to work in a team
- Critical faculties
- Ability to deal with conflict
- Decision-making ability
- Professional competence
- Organizational skills
These criteria can be filled in using a rating scale of 1 to 5, for example, where 1 is very good and 5 is unsatisfactory.
The supervisor should also fill out the questionnaire for himself and can then compare it with the answers of his team colleagues.
Methods
Not only a questionnaire can be considered in this case, but a 360-degree feedback interview can also be a good way to assess a supervisor. In the interview, decisive impulses for individual skills development can be crystallized.
This is also useful for gaining insights into the current state of development and the need for further training. What is essential in 360-degree feedback is the openness to discuss sensitive issues and then deal with and discuss them respectfully.
