Right of direction

The right to give instructions is also known as the right to issue instructions. The employer has the right to determine the employee’s performance obligation in terms of content, place, time and duties in a legally binding manner.

Without the right to issue instructions, the employee would not be able to control the course of operations. It follows from this that the right to issue instructions is an important part of the employment relationship and forms part of the employment contract.
