What do promoters do and why?
Promoters are people who promote an event, a product or a service. The aim of promoters is to increase awareness of the brand or product, generate attention, arouse curiosity, make the product tangible or sell it directly.
Promoters organize and accompany promotional campaigns or live communication measures
Promotional campaigns are designed to create a positive memory in the target group that they will associate with the brand in the future. Most promotions involve actively approaching passers-by in order to give them flyers, information material, product samples or promotional gifts, for example. They are approached on the street, in shopping centers, in stores or at trade fairs, for example.
Promotions where passers-by need to be advised or won over directly on site are more demanding. Here, promoters routinely respond to requests in their advertising and advisory conversations, advise prospective customers, emphasize quality advantages and recommend suitable products. If necessary, they explain to customers how to operate a technical device, for example, or what effects a product has.

Requirements profile of promoters
No completed training is required to work as a promoter; this job is often done part-time while studying at various event and promotion agencies.
Promoters should have in-depth knowledge of the products or brands and be able to convey the feeling that they are enthusiastic consumers themselves. Sales talent is an advantage here. It is also very important to be able to approach people in an open and friendly manner and to win them over with a smile. A job as a promoter requires soft skills such as empathy, extroversion, strong communication skills and a pronounced service mentality. Required hard skills, such as the operation of equipment, can be taught in preparatory training courses.
