Interim Management
Interim management is also known as temporary management. This is a temporary type of management. An external project manager is usually brought into a company to carry out specialist and management tasks.
Interim Management: The advantages
Interim managers or the interim managing director are deployed as soon as the capacities in the company are no longer sufficient and/or specialist know-how is required.
The advantage of an interim manager is that they act predominantly objectively in relation to existing structures.
Interim management is therefore advantageous for companies, as the managers react quickly, flexibly and in line with demand to a problem situation.
In addition, there is a high probability of achieving goals with the help of the interim managing director, as he brings extraordinary skills with him.
Another advantage is that the contractual relationship is short-term, as are the termination periods. In addition, the interim manager is no competition for internal managers, which also has a positive effect.
What to bear in mind
You should note that despite all the advantages, the interim manager also gains a very confidential insight into many internal matters. You therefore need long-term assurances as to how they will behave after the end of their work.
There may also be minor obstacles or problems. The manager may need longer than planned to get up to speed or the existing team may not accept the manager.
