Mobile working
Mobile working is location-independent working. Employees who work on the move therefore do not have a fixed workplace. They perform their work without a fixed workplace, so to speak.
With mobile working, you can work in cafés, co-working spaces, in the park or anywhere else, for example.
Difference to the home office
Mobile working is not the same as working from home. This is because when working from home, the employee has a fixed workplace, so to speak: their own home.
In this sense, mobile working is a freer way of working. Employees are not obliged to go to the office or be tied to their own desk. However, it should be noted that there are currently no clear legal regulations for mobile working.
Mobile working: What you need to bear in mind
Nevertheless, the employer should at least provide the necessary work equipment such as a laptop and monitor. Employees can only perform their tasks conscientiously and productively with functioning work equipment.
When working remotely, it is particularly important to consider the working hours to be observed and data protection. People who work remotely tend to work more overtime.
The aspect of data protection is also not insignificant. All systems must comply with data protection requirements and both the employee and the employer must pay attention to this.
Advantages and disadvantages
One of the disadvantages of mobile working for the employer may be that it is more difficult to monitor. It may also be more difficult to motivate the team due to the physical separation.
The short official route across the corridor to the other office is also no longer necessary. Spontaneous questions, ideas or urgent orders are now subject to technical communication. It is also more difficult for some to establish or deepen social contacts.
But there are also advantages. Young talents in particular want the freedom of mobile working. Free time management is becoming increasingly important.
It also makes it easier for employees who take parental leave or work part-time to combine work and leisure. The long official channels are also eliminated.
